Central Saint Martins, London
18.04.2023–17.06.2023
BA Architecture Studio 5 presents a special roundtable series with our students and experts in their fields with the focus on urban mining, material banks and reuse in architectural design. As the studio tutors have put it: "Materials don’t come from a shop. They are dug, quarried, harvested, processed, shipped from and around the world. Instead of extracting virgin materials, can buildings be built from buildings?"
The events will focus on themes that are particularly related to techniques of working with existing material stocks: To mine (18.04), To audit (02.05), To disassemble (16.05), To reassemble (17.06). Speakers vary from recent graduates to teachers, practicing architects, historians to material contractors.
